Translocal Beekeeping

The workshop had a form of a meeting with the local beekeepers and international group of artists. Annemie Maes from our Belgian partner organization Okno introduced the new artistic approaches to beekeeping and showed the documentation of the beehives on the Brussels rooftops. Luděk Sojka, the head of Czech Beekeepers Union, spoke about the activities of Czech beekeepers. About thirty beekeepers from Chotěboř region visited us. We made a trip to apicultural educational centre and arboretum in Nasavrky and nearby beehives.

Inventing Ecological Time

The artists Gert Aertsen and Marcio Domingues created the first prototypes of wind clocks. Together with the others they constructed several types of wind mills - clocks of various constructions and shapes. Hannes Hoelzl sonified some of them, using the electronic components from the old radios. The mills were placed at various places in the garden, and presented to public.

Amplion

The workshop of creating a site-specific radio play was facilitated by Johana Švarcová. Together with the participants they set out to discover the surrounding of kravín, to make the interviews with Maleč inhabitants, or read from the old village chronicle. For the promo, they used the local radio. During the final party, people listened to the radio play on spot, provided with the improvised subtitles, drawn on and filmed from the stable walls.

REALITY REALIT

Short radio play was made during the workshop Rádio Vérité Letní dílny Kravín 2010. The subject of the play is an oral history of the villages Maleč and Hranice u Malče. Both fictional and documentary parts blend together, likewise the reality and appearance overlaps in the memory of the inhabitants.

Diafilm Sound Robots

Micro-workshop by Barbara Huber from our partner organization Col-me inspired participants to prepare sound performances with old slide films from her large collection.

Agri-Kultura

The evenings were reserved for lectures, projections, or concerts. A selection from the Hungarian movies with a rural subject was prepared by Lívia Rózsás. Viola Ježková showed her documentary Kravín. Els van Riel presented her installation for 16mm projectors. Miloš Sládek lectured about the transformation of the Czech countryside in the 2nd half of the 20th century. At the final party, Hugo a Zoe band from Brno played. Letní dílny ended up with an improvised jam session, with Georgij Bagdasarov on clarinet and many others.

Kravín opening

On Tuesday, August 24th, a festive Kravín opening took place. We introduced the program of Letní dílny and our plans for the eco-art centre Kravín. Bago country band from Víska came to play. Our neighbor Mr. Urban cut the string.
